Guy Ritchie returns to television in top form, and Mobland might be his finest work in years.

This is not your typical mob drama. With Ritchie directing, Mobland is full of confidence, style, and substance. The storytelling is sharp, mixing brutal violence with dark humour and unexpected emotional depth. Every scene is crafted with care, and the whole show feels both cinematic and intimate. It is prestige television that never forgets to entertain.

one of the standout TV shows of the year

At the heart of the show is Tom Hardy, delivering one of the strongest performances of his career. He is magnetic on screen, bringing a simmering intensity and emotional weight to the role. Hardy is always compelling, but here he is something else entirely.

He is backed by a powerhouse supporting cast. Paddy Considine gives a remarkable performance that could easily earn him an Emmy nomination. His quiet intensity and emotional complexity bring real depth to the story. Pierce Brosnan adds charisma and quiet menace, while Helen Mirren delivers a commanding performance that makes her character extremely dislikable. I never thought I would be almost repulsed my Helen Mirren.

The pacing is tight, the cinematography is striking yet grounded, and the atmosphere is thick with tension. Mobland manages to feel modern while also drawing from the best of classic British crime storytelling.

For fans of Peaky BlindersThe Sopranos, or Ritchie’s early film work, this is essential viewing. Stylish, brutal, and completely gripping, Mobland is one of the standout TV shows of the year. HIGHLY recommend this one!
